Feb. 22, 2010

things are going well here in centerville. i was honestly really surprised that i was transferred out of sunset becuase elder deming has been there for 6 months. but centerville is a really nice area and my new companion, Elder Kay, is a really cool kid, but we have a lot of work going on here. We cover 3 stakes here and it is alot of work becuase the area geographically is alot bigger. i am still trying to get to know where everything is and who everyone is, but it should at least take me another week or so to get to know everyone.

This week was good, i am in a new area now, Centerville and i am so far enjoying it here. My new compainon's name is Elder Kay and he is from Olympia, Washington and we are doing some really good work here. We have a car here so that is definetley a plus! and we cover 3 stakes out here and the work is going really well out here. there are alot of new faces and alot of new streets and i haven't quite gotten them all down. all i know is where the grocery store is and how to get home...haha but this week I had the opportunity to go back to sunset and baptize the O'Connor girls with Elder Deming, so we did that and that was awesome. But other than that we have some dates lined up for march here so we are definetely excited to get those dates done and to have some baptisms in centerville. but anyways i really don't have much to report on this week and hope that everything goes well with you back in Provo.

Love you

Feb. 15, 2011

But things have been really good here in sunset, Utah. the work here is going well, even though it has been a slow week. but this morning i found out that i am getting transferred! I am going to be in Centerville Utah now. So that is just North of Bountiful and just south of Kaysville. So I am going to be serving there now and i am excited that i am moving on. I also at the same time feel really bad for Elder Deming because he wanted to leave sunset a while ago and felt like he was and he sure thought that he was going to get a transfer call today, but now i am leaving...so that means that he will probably be here 7 1/2 months... but his new companion was his MTC compaion and they get along pretty well. so in that case, things should be OK. but my new compaion's name is Elder Kay and that is all I really know about him. But i have talked to some other missionaries in the mission today and they have told me that we are likely to get along and we should have fun together, so I am looking forward to the adventure and challenge.
This week has been kind of slow regarding the work. We have been kind of teaching the same people. We are still teaching our 18 year old kid named Jordan. Jordan is one of those kids who we have taught for awhile but is just not willing to make the commitment of baptism... We have probably invited him to be baptized atleast more than 10 times... He kind of feels that if he gets baptized and when he leaves foster care that he will just go back into the wrong crowd and that when he moves away to a new ward that he won't be accepted anymore. But he knows for a fact that the church is true and we taught him a really good plan of salvation lesson and he was really into the lesson and he loved it. but he just doesn't feel ready to be baptized. but i really hope that when i leave that they will get him baptized.
Also we have been consistently meeting with this lady named Cindy. But the story about Cindy is the first day I came into this area we tracted into her and she kind of seemed uninterested but she still let us in and let us talk to her. and she was in some desperate need of help and the whole time I just felt like she was one of those welfare cases. So everytime i went over to her home to help her out, such as with getting some things like she needed, such as a bed and food orders i kind of felt like it was a waste of time, becuase of what I had seen in Missouri with people abusing the church for their welfare. So was kind of bitter about her and we kept on going over and she really kept on progessing. Also she said that she had taken her name off the record so she wasn't a memeber. and at first she didn't want to come to church becuase she kind of has this twich in her leg and she just sticks her leg out straight and she was kind of hesistant about learning about the church, but the more we started to meet with her the more she started getting into the discussions. and finally we got her to come to church and at first she just wanted to go to sacrament meeting and she went and she said that she loved it! and for the past couple of weeks she has gone to the whole church hour and she even attends choir practice and she absolutly loves church and can't wait to go everyweek! but the otherday her sister died and she was really sad and we went over there and explained the plan of salvation with her and it just cleared up everything for her and she started feeling alot better. But also she was telling us last night that when we invited her to come to church she felt like all the church was going to talk about was Joseph Smith and she was kind of afraid of that but then when she realized that wasn't the case she was really happy. but i have definetly seen a big change in her and she is awesome and it is kind of hard for me to leave her. but i guess that is what it is when  you are a misisonary.
Also the O'Connor girls got a ride to church with our ward mission leader, so they were at church for the whole 3 hours and that was awesome to see them there. but they are getting baptized this saturday and they wanted Elder Deming and I to baptize their daughters but now I am leaving but I should be able to come back to the baptismal service on Saturday.
but tonight i guess i have to say goodbye to everyone in this area. i really like this area. Anyways i am looking forward to serving in Centerville and I am hoping that I can also see success in that area.
Love you all

Feb. 8, 2011

This week has been pretty good. we got one our investigators, Haydn baptized this week and it was awesome to see him get baptized. and in 2 weeks we will hopefully see the O'Connor girls that we have been teaching to get baptized. we thought that they would get baptized next week but they decided to move it to the 19th, so that will be good to see them get baptized.
this week we didn't really have that much going on other than we picked up some new investigators this week. their names are Brandon and Ginny, they are a nice couple except the only problem is that they aren't married. but we did have a really good first lesson with them and we totally felt the spirit with them and we are working on them to get married and to get baptized. but that can defintely be accomplished!
but anyways that is all i really have this week, hopefully i have a more interesting week next week.

Feb. 1, 2011

the weather here has been pretty good until today....we went to the Bountiful temple this morning and when we got out it was freezing! it was 9 degrees outside and the wind was blowing like crazy and with wind chill i think it was about 1 or 2 degrees.

This week was a pretty good week. Mike and Audrey got baptized and it was awesome and i had the oppourtunity to baptize Mike. But they got baptized this saturday and we confirmed them on Sunday. Their baptismal service was really good and it has been really awesome teaching them and we were super stoked to get them baptized. But we have Haden lined up for next week and we did have these 2 girls lined up for next week also but they didn't show up to church on sunday so we had to push their date back...but hopefully they will make it by that date. But so far the work has been going really well. We picked up several new investigators and one of them we had a pretty crazy experience with, to keep it short one of his little brothers threw a tantrum and it sounded like an 7 year old kid being possessed with the devil....like seriously.

but there has also been some kind of sucky news. we were teaching a bunch of little kids and they were planning on getting baptized and the Mom (who is inactive) suddenly is just like we don't want the missionaries over anymore. so we were like...that sucks. and then we also picked up this other new investigator and they seemed to be pretty solid but now they are moving out of our area. but that is ok because at least they can be taught by some other missionaries so that they can be baptized!but we also got cindy our self ex member to come to church this week and she when she went she said that she really liked it and it was awesome to see her at church!

but i really don't have much to write about this week.
